How to get relief from Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and Depression affects millions of people every day. Getting relief from anxiety and depression can be tricky. Is it due to the crazy busy lives we live? Or is it something else? A lot of it is stress and fear in the sub conscious. But when you have that worked out, but still feel it, now what?

When we are busy working or stressed, taking care of ourselves, our families, our cars, our homes, etc etc... our bodies burn essential nutrients. After all, they are there for a reason...they are there to be used!

Anxiety Physical causes:

Overactive thyroid. If you have weight loss, racing heart/palpitations or sweating. Most of the time a doctor will test your thyroid function and sometimes it is negative. The heart palpitations and racing heart can also be from fear.

Low progesterone and estrogen. Woman approaching menopause.

Low testosterone (men). Especially in or around mid to late 40's.

Adrenal Gland Fatigue. If you get irritable when hungry or have sugar cravings.

Nutritional Deficiencies. B vitamins and...here is the amazing part... magnesium. Yea, I did not believe it either, but it is true. Be sure to get a B complex vitamin and take a magnesium supplement. Also, get L-theanine!!! L-theanine is VERY effective at calming anxiety.

Doctors will give you Valium, which affects the GABA already in your brain for a calming effect. They may also prescribe Ativan but it can be habit forming since it is a benzodiazepine.

SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor), are also used for generalized anxiety disorder and/or depression by blocking certain receptors in the brain allowing you to take in more serotonin. The most common are Paxil, Prozac and Lexapro.

There are stronger drugs called SSNRI (Selective Serotonin Norepinephrine Re-uptake Inhibitors). These drugs allow you to re-uptake serotonin AND norepinephrine. Both are believed to affect mood. They are used for anxiety, depression and bi-polar disorders. The most common are Cymbalta and Effexor.

Seroquel is a drug called quetiapine. This is used for serve cases such as bi-poler disorder and schizophrenia.

Anxiety has psychological causes as well. I believe, when we are going through a lot of things in life like work, health issues, body image issues, financial problems, family issues, self discovery issues, acceptance, etc...it can all be too overwhelming to our mind and body, resulting in anxiety and it can cause depression.

Depression. There are so many things to list here. Physical symptoms include:

Backache, headache, tingling in the head and arms, hot flashes, feeling like you are going to die or pass out.

Feelings of worthlessness, or random thoughts about guilt or that make you feel guilty.

Persistent aches or pains, cramps, headaches or digestive problems that do not ease even with treatment.

Loss of interest in activities or hobbies once pleasurable, including sex.

Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" feelings .

Thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts and random thoughts of death.

Losing your job, losing a friend or family member, breaking up with someone, losing a pet.

Remember, the subconscious is VERY powerful. Our minds, subconsciously, is working on all kinds of things that we see, feel, experience, etc. A lot of things, we passively dismiss and go on like nothing happened but your mind is working on them one way or another. Lets say you are mad a a family member, or co-worker...you go on like its OK, and keep working...you dismiss the feelings in your chest and stomach and try to get over it. Eventually, all of this builds up inside you and you "pop". It will cause anxiety and depression and you wont be able to identify why you feel the way you do. Our bodies affect our minds, and vice versa! Your thoughts effect the cells in your body too!

If you lose a friend or family member, or your job, you have to remember...you are still here! You CAN and WILL survive without them. Before they entered your life, you were surviving...you will one day be able to again. Do not be co-dependent, you and you alone have all the strength and power in the world, right inside you...you have to have faith in yourself!

In no way should you not seek medical attention if you have these symptoms. Especially if you feel like dying. Just don't be so hard on yourself, and remember it is normal to go through this and you are not alone.

Doctors most likely are going to put you on medication and tell you to take it easy and see a therapist to get through this.

Chinese medicine believes that depression is in the liver! Do a liver cleanse, take magnesium and a B-Complex vitamin. Take L-Theanine when your really trippen out. OR, see a doctor and get your meds started. They will work, but they have NASTY side effects!! Like weight gain, fatigue, inability to keep an erection, loss of sex drive, hungry all the time, etc. They do work though, so if your pretty bad, take them for a season and then tell your doctor when you want to get off. Immediately do a liver and colon cleanse after. ST. JOHNS WORT, taken 3 times a day has the same effect as 20mg of Paxil per day. It WORKS! and it is VERY safe.

When experiencing anxiety or depression, you may feel a strong sense of awareness. This is because of the fight or flight going on in your body and mind. A lot of adrenaline and chemicals are dumped when your perception is that you are scared of something. The body immediately reacts to your thoughts in order to protect you...hence fight or flight. The body does it, but only when you think something is wrong! Remember, your thoughts effect your body. Perception really is everything. If you feel trapped because of religion, family, etc... seek information! Use the Internet, listen to people with experience with your specific problem and build coping skills.

Exercise works VERY well too. Keep working out, and eat high protein, and lots of fruits and veg. The harder you work out, the more endorphins you get! WOO HOO. It's a HIGH like no other and you will sleep great!

hi, im at this time going through a very hard time, feel depressed about a persons behaviour to me and i can't do any thing about him. i am mad about him and he has behaved badly any way i have to get over this some time soon to save my head and my health. he can't get the better of me. i have to keep saying this to my self in order to get back some strength. if i can do it so can you, this is big words and i have to wear them not just show them to you. so as a challenge i have to follow it up and see eventually the result and hopefully feel better. i don't feel suicidal but it has had a profound effect on me but not fatal, so for as long as i am aware of this i have to act on it for my self. SO CAN YOU,
