How to jailbreak or unlock your iPhone!
To JAILBREAK or unlock your iphone, you will need to download RedSnow. Jailbreaking your iPhone will allow you to bypass Apple's restrictions and allow you to install 3rd party applications from other app creators. Jailbreaking gives you App stores like Cydia and Icy that have really cool applications that AT&T restricts.
Spoof app is one of my favorites. It allows you to call someone and pre-program in the phone number you want the other person to see! A lot of fun can be had here... or you can catch an un-suspecting someone by pretending to be that person :) hehehehehe.
Jailbreaking your iPhone is completely legal and has not yet been ruled a violation of DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).
There are a lot of reasons to jailbreak your iPhone. In addition to 3rd party applications, you can also customize the look of your iPhone by changing the style of the icons and pages, customizing your ringtone and SMS tones, and allowing full 3g access to applications that apple or AT&T would otherwise restrict.
There are an estimated 4 million + iPhones jailbroken with thousands and thousands more each month.
Unlocking your iPhone is different from Jailbreaking. Unlocking simply allows you to connect your iPhone to a service provider other than AT&T. It would allow you to connect to T-Mobile, or any other GSM network. AT&T is a GSM network, like T-Mobile... where Verizon, Sprint, etc..are CDMA so you can not connect an iPhone to those networks....YET.
There are tons of companies that will assist you with jailbreaking your iPhone.. in fact they are usually automated, taking the tech work out of the equation so you dont have to stress. There should be multiple companies listed on this page that will jailbreak your iPhone for you.

I think the iphone should come to T-mobile as well.
AT&T and Verizon plans are much more expensive just to get the phone. T-mobile customers need to have the opportunity to get this phone without the additional expenses to use on the network

I HOPE that APPLE "DOES NOT" continue their contract with AT&T. If APPLE allows other carriers, OMG! AT&T will, in my opinion, EVENTUALLY merge with T-Mobile. AT&T customer service is "THE WORST!" In my opinion, MANY people will DEFECT from AT&T... WITH a QUICKNESS... Also, in my opinion, Verizon WIRELESS charges the HIGHEST in FEES, TAXES and SURCHARGES of the entire wireless industry. WARP SPEED to a NEW DAY of MULTIPLE CARRIERS of the iPhone. That would be a miracle and "THE BEST for APPLE'S BOTTOM LINE."
NO EXCLUSIVE CARRIER. Let each individual decide which carrier they want...
I wish our system was like the japanese phone system. You buy your phone independent of the service provider. Then, you can go and pick whatever carrier you want. Thusly resulting in better service deals. Thats part of the reason the iphone is failing in Japan. They don't want a technologically retarded phone tied to an expensive phone service.
If the iPHone is jailbroken, then you can use it on T-Mobile but... do NOT expect to use 3G since the T-Mobile uses a different 3G frequency than ATT and the rest of the world, which really Sucks!
I hope iPhone stays with AT&T. I was with sprint for 2 years and their service is not 4G like they say it is. I always had dropped calls. I was also with t-mobile and they extended my contract witout even getting my permission. Since I went to AT&T my service has been great and i've never had to call customer service for anything and even when I went to the AT&T store to chang to an iPhone the employees there were very friendly and helpful where as in tmobile and sprint when ever I called or went into the store with an issue they would just say I'm sorry but I'm not able to help with the issue and if it was a call I gave them they would transfer me to the next person and than put me on hold forever. AT&T is the best so far!!!!
i called at&t today to ask what my bill would be like with them.i got transferred 3 times and the last guy was yawning loudly on the phone ,he acted very non-chalant and had terrible customer service.my contract is up with tmobile next friday and i don't where to go.
The Japanese cell phone system is like that bc they all use the same technology and frequencies. Unfortunately, the US has CDMA and GSM...once those 2 essentially merge to LTE, we may have something similar to Japan. Bring it on in 2012. (Rollouts begin 2011).
TMobile! I've been using an Iphone on Tmobile for years and love it! No problems, no issues, great service and plans.

In general, US cell phone service sucks. The EU because of rules on the carriers has made it much more competetive, ie a provider has to unlock you phone if you request them do so, if under contract there is a fee, at end of contract free. Talked to some friends over there who had their iPhones unlocked, simple and pain free.
Secondly, the networks are so much better, when travelling around over there using the iPhone had no dropped calls and the sound quality seemed better, data network a bit slow though in Italy, but then again, no one seems to be in a rush in Italy, including me :)
Um why would t-mobile come out with an iphone? an iphone is with AT&T! That would be the dumbest thing ever!!!

I can deff tell you that t-mobile will charge to have the iphone run on their networks, the iphone is a data phone, at&t charges $30, t-mobile will charge 25$ most likely...I had t-mobile, and got rid of them after they refused to charge back a ETF even when I didnt cancel my line or any line on my account. so I left and went to at&t..so far they have been awesome, no issues with networks or any bad customer service problems... apple will be very sorry if t-mobile ever was allowed to have the iphone on their networks.. IMO

People are killing me! Everything I've been reading about the new 4G phone is how people want Tmobile to have it because of they're cheap plans. Think about it people, the plans ar cheap to attract customers. If they were to get the iPhone the plans would obviously be more expensive. It's business after all. I have no problem with MY iPhone or AT&T. I'm only paying like $5 more for the iPhone than my last phone.

The New Iphone should be made available for verizon wireless, they have the most coverage out of all the other carriers, they are the most dependable, t-mobil has the best deals and the most minutes for your money but whats the point if you dont have the service coverage to use your minutes, Verizon is the best choice, you get what you pay for, plans might be expensive but then again arent all the best things you buy mostly expensive i mean ur getting skype mobil free and all the other best stuff its def worth it for verizon to get the Iphone other than money give me a reason why verizon shouldnt get it i dare u to compare..

What everyone needs to understand is that AT&T's service as well as Sprint's 4g coverage works best in larger city's like Chicago. I use a 3g aircard at work near Chicago that works great but I've had it stop working several times. Verizon's 3g network is more widespread. If the iPhone were to go to Verizon I think AT&T would lose customers because Verizon's network is already capable of handling the iPhones major data usage while AT&T's network is still lacking the capability. AT&T has stated that they are working on their network and claim it will be improved by the end of he year.
I love my Iphone 3GS great service with AT&T. Verizion says they have 3G. I could never find it.

It doesn't look good for the iPhone and Verizon. Verizon execs had a really poor attitude and told Apple they want changes..
Sprint however, would be my preferred carrier as I'm sick of Verizon's crappy phones, and certainly don't want a phone with an OS made by Google.

I love my IPhone & AT&T. I'll admit AT&T is a little higher bill wise but its worth it. My home computer broke and I wasn't in a rush to get it fixed cuz I did almost everything from IPhone. Great customer service as well!
AT&T itself has great customer service as long as you are clear and precisely define your needs... Personally, though, I'd love for Apple to just stick it's middle finger to them all and make their own network. But I suppose I'm an Apple whore. I love my iPhone, whatever.

I think it is great the iphone is still at att. Plus it is only $15 a month instead of $30. And at sprint it is like a minimum of $40 a month for the evo!
Jailbreaking my iPhone was the best move I made. Along with it being easy as 1-2-3 to customise the look of your phone with premade themes; with a little knowledge of Terminal and Photoshop, you can create your own sliders, app icons etc for a completely unique theme. Heck if you want you can host them for other people to download through Cydia! Please Apple, stop trying to kill such a good feature!

I opened a home phone and internet line in addition to my 4 phone lines w AT&T. My bill was messed up for 2 mths!!! I had unnecessary pro rated charges! Then the reps acted like it was my fault that I was constantly being given the wrong information!!! One rep just transferred me to the disconnect dept!! Lucky for AT&T I'm stuck in 4 contracts, but not so lucky for me!! I don't mind paying a phone bill, but I EXSPECT good customer service in return for being a CUSTOMER!!

For all you T-Mobile people the service does suck I've had many friends end there contract early because of there service as well as I did also and I've had Verizon and the the service is ok costumer service sucks with them as well as there charge you with service you didn't sign up for when I had them I had to call ever month for them to credit my account for charges I shouldn't of had I'm happy with att and can care less were the iPhone goes cause in my opinion att has the best service and customer service.

Verizon is not expensive at all there is a bigger variety of plans which may make you think its more expensive. Jaibreaking ipods/iphones is not good for the phone its like a computer virus.
I LOVE my iphone and have NO PROBLEM with AT&T. I had Verizon before, and also had no problems with their service. I just wanted the iphone. I wouldn't switch back to Verizon unless their plans became more competitive.

almost all of u guys are sayng that att should merge with this company nd verison should merge with this company, well just to let u guys know, THEY CAN'T! att was recently talked about, and basically the rumor was that they bought sprint and were gonna combine/merge the 2 companies into 1, well they had the same problem that verison had while trying to merge together with t mobile, its a law/regulation that they cant, because verison and att are the 2 biggest cell phone carriers, they cant merge with other carriers because they would become too big, a certain company cannot have a monopoly over a good or service, and this is why they cannot merge with other cell phone carriers/companies, its a law! (peace, and just letting ya know whats really happening, not hating)

For AT&T I used a jailbreak and it "bricked" my iPhone so all jailbreaks apparently are not created equal. I unlocked my O2 UK iPhone with an www.iFactoryUnlock.com apple authorized unlock. The difference is a factory unlock is permanent and you don't have to worry about software changes from Apple. I prefer an authorized unlock over a jailbreak any day, but the authorized ones cost more.
Sometimes you win...sometimes you loose. I guess it comes down to personal choice.

I have been with tmobile for about 2 months now and i have great service all the time i have 3g when i need it i have not had any issues with them yet went to the new store and they got me what i wanted i even swiched phones 2 times because i changed my mind they did not charge me a restocking fee they took my phone back and gave me another one and there plans i love it my wife and i pay 49.00 a month for unlimted every thing what other carrier would give you service like that talk text and web for 49.00 a month that is great i was with sprint verizon and att and non of them ever gave me what i truly wanted for cheap yea i payed full price for my phone but it was worth it to get what i wanted so any one that is bad mouthing t mobile needs to look at what they are trying to do to get new people to sign up with them and att sucks ass 1700 for 2 lines are you kidding me verizon 850 for 2 lines yea right t mobile 100 for 2 lines that is what i like
